Ved Vyasa D.A.V Public School, Vikas Puri was felicitated with the prestigious first "National School award for Sanitation" on November 28 2012 at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantt,New Delhi. School Principal Ms. Chitra Nakra received the award amidst loud round of applause by Honourable Human Resource and Development Minister Dr Pallam Raju and distinguished gathering at a grand function “Waves Of Change” "Waves of change" programme is an Endeavour of CBSE in partnership with GIZ and NIESBUD to promote awareness regarding health, hygiene and sanitation amongst education sector. And inculcate good sanitation habits to acquaint,inspire and celebrate excellence in school sanitation at National level. 100 schools across the country were shortlisted for their no flinching sanitation standards according to the various parameters laid by the organizers . The school was awarded a trophy,a certificate and a cash prize of rupees 25000 as a mark of recognition in the yellow school category. The honourable minister personally answered the question put up by the school students for the conservation and sustainanence of the environment. Sabarni of class X , got the golden opportunity to ask the minister about “The decreased economic growth rate of India ,because of reduced mining operations, keeping in view environmental degradation.” The question was appreciated by the minister . It was an enriching experience and a moment of pride for the students and the teachers.
